Famous Foods of Odisha

Rice is the basic and important food for the people of Orissa. But shift has been observed now a days, as people , specifically in the urban areas, have started liking  chapati (wheat bread) as an alternative to rice. In festive season,  sun-dried rice is usually preferred by local people . Here , pakhal is also famous , which is basically cooked rice soaked in water. Desserts which are famous here are Rasabali, Chhenapoda , Chhenajhilli and Pitha (cakes).

Most of the people of Odisha re non-vegetarians and fish being the integral part of their cuisines.A very unique  cooking style is followed in preparation of the dishes. Different type of vegetables are used for preparing mouthwatering curries.Main course consists of rice or chapatti, along with dal, bhaji, bharta (mixed vegetable curry), and dessert.
